HP labs has apparently developed a fourth basic circuit element: resistor, capacitor, inductor, and memristor. The memristor changes resistance depending on the flow of charge thru it in the past. Hey, I just read about it and haven't thought it thru yet. The WIRED site here:

seemed to suggest an application resembling brain function. In other words a new element is now available for construction of an analog computer.
