PostPost subject: Creation of efferent and afferent connections? Reply with quote

Hello everyone!

I was hoping that someone with more of a background in biology could point me to some research articles that discuss the manner in which afferent and efferent projections are created? While I understand the various types of cells present, and their inhibitory and excitory effects, I am still in the dark as it were on how exactly the connections are first created and what conditions effect them?

Is it a random process dictated by cell (neuron) type, distance, and other histogenetic effects, or is it something else completely?

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers!
