Cool I am presenting my theory prematurely to the people at onintelligence.org, before I publish them in book form. I'm hoping my future book brings the financial success I need to allow me to pursue my own research 24/7. Laughing

Jeff's passion to create a cognitive computer which mimics a living biological process reminds me of my own. I present my thoughts purely for the edification of the people at this website. For whatever it will be worth, enjoy.

Welcome to the forum.

What you say is true about animals seeking to stay in a optimal state (homostasis). The big question is how can they manage to do it amid the increasing complexity and challenges of their surroundings. How can they assure they get food, shelter, etc to survive amide competition from others while at the same time avoiding getting killed by natural events or preditors? This is why the brain evolved in the first place.

Cool It's "Fascinating, Captain," as Spock would say. Speaking for myself, it's too much to comment upon without a formal structure to guide any train of thought. Hope the treatise is interesting is all, for now.

PostPost subject: It is that cognition is undefined Reply with quote

Question All the research into cognition is in reference to what? Where and to what context is all the knowledge I acquire on the subject put to use to? As simply as I can I will try to answer that as practically as possible.

The lower forms of life I do not know to define with words, but speaking for myself if I was to create a working definition of a computer that mimics a living cognitive process, such a working definition would be, "that thing in the back of my eyes, inside my skull, that "thing" that I use to make my right arm and hand move to scratch an itch when I feel a want to do so."

When I stop to think about what they will actually create a thousand years from now, mimicking what I just described there, all I can do is think to myself, "Yikes." I never did like Turings definition. It seemed to miss so much in the way of personality.
