PostPost subject: different hierarchy structure Reply with quote

someone mentioned to me about the fovea effect where the the central part of the image is overrepresented in the visual cortex. Therefore, I am wondering if it's possible to change the 'balanced' tree shape to something else. E.g., having different-sized subregions in the lowest level .

Anyone knows if any work has been done on something like that ? I am having problem finding literature / resources on the idea . I am not sure what to 'search' for (e.g., keyword etc) .
